Pray for Myanmar

The Invitation, April 14, 2022

February 1, 2022 marked the first anniversary of the coup in Myanmar, which plunged the nation and the lives of most of its people into chaos and turmoil. One year later, the nation is facing huge challenges and at the same time YWAM workers see equally huge opportunities. One of the leaders of YWAM’s work in Myanmar said, “I want to thank you for your ongoing prayer and support for the people of Myanmar. Knowing that the world has not forgotten them makes a big difference.” Please join YWAM’s prayer initiative called The Invitation as we continue to pray for the people of Myanmar, who are trying to stand strong in the face of immense challenges. Please take a moment to pray right now and also pray on our prayer day, April 14.

Listen to the Letter
  1. Pray for peace. Many parts of the country are experiencing an increase in violence. Although Yangon seems calm, other places are experiencing civil war, with several hundred thousand people being displaced. There is no end in sight to the conflict and so far all international attempts to help solve the crisis have failed. Please pray that the Lord will intervene and restore peace, justice and freedom. Also pray that God would protect the innocent and weak from violence and abuse.
  2. Pray for provision. The economic situation is very dire. Many have lost their jobs and some investors have pulled out. Pray for the economy to somehow pick up, so that people can be saved from desperate poverty. Pray for provision in YWAM’s work so that we can serve the many struggling poor people.
  3. Praise God for openness to the gospel. We are amazed how God is at work! The numbers of people turning to Christ are increasing almost everywhere. In the midst of the challenges and perhaps because of them, people are hungry for eternal truth, peace and freedom! As one example, an online evangelistic campaign has between three and five million views each month, with around 10,000 contact requests so far and over 1,000 serious inquirers wanting to know more about Jesus. Please pray that many more will find Christ and also pray for effective discipleship.
  4. Pray for YWAM’s ministry. Most of our teams have been busy distributing food and doing outreaches to poor communities. Two locations have restarted their preschools, with many children attending. One team ran a sewing training with 15 young women. Another location in the north of the country continues to run mini Discipleship Training Schools. Even in the midst of the current situation, a new YWAM location has been pioneered. Please pray for anointing and also protection for all our staff and ministry partners as they continue to boldly serve the poor and needy and declare the love of God in deed and word.

Praying for Ukraine at YWAM Los Angeles

Members of the YWAM family in South Korea, Uganda, England, USA and other countries sent reports about praying for Ukraine. Said a representative of YWAM Slavic Ministries, which has been putting out prayer updates almost every day, “Thank you so much for all your prayers! Pray for Ukraine

The Invitation, March 10, 2022

YWAM teams inside and outside of Ukraine are urgently providing assistance to people suffering from the war in that nation. Please pray for them and for the situation in Ukraine. YWAM began its work in Ukraine when the nation was still under Soviet rule. We now have teams in five locations. One of those locations, in Ternopil, has become the main refugee processing center in the city. In Kyiv YWAMers are delivering food to people in need and driving hundreds to safe shelter. Other YWAM teams in countries surrounding Ukraine have been helping refugees. Those countries include Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Moldova, and others. Please pray with us for Ukraine, for the refugees from Ukraine, and for YWAM’s work to care for the victims of this tragedy. Please join YWAM’s prayer initiative called The Invitation and pray right now and join us on our prayer day, March 10.

Listen to the Letter
  1. Pray for peace and for miracles. Our battle lies not with flesh and blood (Eph 6:2). As the YWAM family, let us pray as the Holy Spirit leads and let’s go deeper than just what the news shows us
  2. Pray for YWAM’s ministry in Ukraine. In Kyiv YWAMers are risking their lives to deliver food to people in need or to drive children or adults to shelter. Our YWAM location in Ternopil is now the main refugee processing center for the city. They need help with food, bedding and other supplies for themselves and the many thousands they are serving. They are working with pastors throughout the city to find space for refugees. The mayor recently called them to say 6,000 more refugees are on their way.
  3. Pray for refugees from Ukraine, including our own YWAMers. Pray for YWAM’s efforts to help these refugees in Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Moldova, Germany, and other nations.
  4. Pray for people in Russia who oppose the invasion. Many are taking bold steps to speak out. This is a challenging time for YWAM’s work in Russia and Belarus

Pray for The Send

The Invitation, February 10, 2022

This year, The Send (thesend.org) plans to invite young people to three mission-focused stadium events: in Kansas City, in Norway, and in Argentina. They want to see tens of thousands of people activated into mission fields, and churches reignited. Please join with the YWAM prayer initiative called The Invitation as we pray for The Send. Please take a moment to pray right now and also pray with us on our prayer day, February 10.

  1. A movement of salvation: That the veil of secularism would be lifted and a generation would see and encounter the love of the Messiah, Jesus. Pray for the revelation of the cross and the power of the shed blood of Jesus.
  2. A spiritual awakening across the Body of Christ: That the church would rise gloriously in this hour full of the Spirit of God, living from the Word of God, and boldly living for Jesus.
  3. A sending movement: That this next generation would rise to their hour to further the Great Commission all over the earth.
  4. The Send gatherings in 2022: That the events in Kansas City on May 14, in Norway on June 25, and in Argentina on October 29, would each be a tipping point gathering for a Jesus generation.

Pray for Afghan Refugees

The Invitation, January 13, 2022

During more than 40 years of war in Afghanistan, many Afghans in desperation have chosen to leave their homes. An estimated five million Afghans have now spread out around the world, forming one of the world’s largest refugee populations. Some of these are believers in Jesus. Over the last decades, like never before in history, we have seen the beginning of a real movement of Afghan followers of Jesus. Some estimate about 12,000 believers in the country and many house churches. Please pray for refugees from Afghanistan. They are going through enormous transition, as the realities of life in their new host countries are completely different from the life they have left behind. They need our prayers! Please join with one of YWAM’s prayer initiative called The Invitation and pray right now and on our prayer day, January 13.

Listen to the Letter
  1. YWAM has been working among Afghan refugees, especially in countries like Pakistan, Tajikistan, India, Turkey, Germany and Greece. Many of these refugees need food, clothing and shelter, need medical care, or are simply lost. Pray that God would use us to bring help and hope to Afghans in these nations. Pray that house churches would spread throughout their communities, so that the gospel would reach many people.
  2. Pray for the churches in USA, Canada, Brazil, Australia and Europe who are working hard to help settle thousands of Afghans. Pray they would know how best to help them, that the Church would shine Jesus’ light and life through their hospitality.
  3. Pray for Afghan believers moving to various nations for the first time, that they would be able to gather and continue to reach out to other Afghans.
  4. Pray for the adjustment of Afghan refugees: for employment, for language learning, for cultural understanding, for comfort from homesickness, for friendship.
  5. Pray for the thousands of Afghans still in Afghanistan who want to leave the country as soon as possible, and others who cannot leave and suffer from lack of employment, and inability to pay for food or medicine.

Afghans are a friendly people! Maybe you have heard about them moving close to where you are located. How about praying for an opportunity to start relationship building? Invite them for tea, to join you in playing sports. Help them buy groceries, or maybe help them learn the local language. Also, learn how to share the gospel with them in a way they would understand.
