Five Ways to Become a YWAM Missionary

Over on my other site I wrote a post a few months about about how you can become a missionary in YWAM. I looked at five different options, including:

  • Mission Adventures
  • Discipleship Training Schools
  • Business as Missions
  • School of Frontier Missions
  • Joining Staff in YWAM

You can read more about these five different ways to do missionary work with YWAM here.

YWAM Ship Minstry Continues to Grow

Last month saw YWAM Internationally joining together to pray for the growing ship ministry in Youth With A Mission. After Mercy Ships was released as their own ministry YWAM continued their own ship ministry under the banner of Marine Reach.

You can read about the International Day of Prayer for the YWAM Ship Ministry here.

Faith Week Challenges YWAM Missionaries to Rely Completely on God

Faith Week is a week where Missionaries through Youth With A Mission are sent alone or with a partner for a surprise no location with no planning. They rely completely on hearing God’s voice to hear what they are to do there, and how they are to survive. The participants in Faith Week are deposited somewhere in the world with no plans, no accommodation and only their ability to hear God’s voice to survive where they are sent.

YWAM Missionaries Colin and Hayley had an exciting time in Bucharest, Romania where they were dropped off at the Piata Romana, the busiest intersection in the middle of Bucharest. You can read about their adventure on Faith Week here.

Latest International YWAMer Released

The most recent issue of the International YWAMer is available now available over on their web-site.

This issue discusses how the current economic recession is effecting the Churches ability to engage in missions around the world. You can also find some practical tips to YWAMers about how to survive the current financial downturn. Lynn Green, YWAM’s International Chairman, has a great article about the call for YWAMers to live in the tradition of the Levites.

You can read the entire issues here, and while you are there I would highly recommend that you subscribe to receive every new issue if you haven’t done so already.

YWAM OneStory Seminar offered in Canada

Starting April 29th YWAM Turner Valley in Alberta, Canada is offering a one week “OneStory” seminar, open to anyone in YWAM Canada (or beyond) who want to learn more about how to communicate God’s Word to oral people groups. The goals of the seminar are to help the participants understand better how oral communicators think and learn, understanding their worldview and gaining knowledge of cultural considerations.

The OneStory seminar is a part of the call2all strategy to raise the churches effectiveness in evangelism and missions.

You can find out more about the YWAM OneStory seminar here.

Contact the Turner Valley YWAM base here if you are interested in participating here.
