We had a report come in to us earlier this week that during the night of the 22nd of January that the roof of YWAM Medicine Hat’s Central building had collapsed. Medicine Hat has received and unusually large snowfall over the last few weeks and the roof was not able to take the weight. The roof simply folded and 1/3 of the building has collapsed.
Thankfully there was no one injured in the collapse.
YWAM Medicine Hat has been renting the building and was in final negotiations for the purchase of the property. The ramifications for the collapse of the roof is not yet known, but they would appreciate a lot of prayer right now about the situation.
They believe that this place is to be a missions base with prayer and missions going hand in hand. The ministry at Youth Wtih A Mission in Medicine Hat has been growing and they have seen a number of ministries growing and being birthed in the last number of years.
Until they know more they are not sure what will be happening. They are looking at possibly needing to find and rent a new facility. They would greatly appreciate your prayer and wisdom into the situation.
Over 3 million copies of Loren Cunningham’s book “Is That Really You God” have sold since it was first published in 1984.
Like I wrote about in the the last story the book is available in nearly 100 languages in either hardcover or paperback version. I reckon that you can probably find a copy somewhere in nearly every YWAMers house.
“Is That Really You, God?” is now available in e-book format from Amazon! You can check it out on the Amazon web-site for only $6.99 for the Kindle. The nice thing about purchasing it for the Kindle is that you can not only read it on a Kindle, but the software is available for free for the PC, the iPhone, the iPod Touch, Blackberry, iPad and for Android.
The book explains the early history of YWAM, it’s founding and some of the stories from different people in the mission. The book is required reading for almost anyone doing a YWAM DTS. It’s an amazing history of God’s faithfulness and calling to Youth With A Mission and a book that I have read a few times now.
Is That Really You God has now been translated into 96 different languages. The latest translation that I have heard of was the Mongolian language and was completed in late 2006.
We had an e-mail come in this week from a YWAMer that I know in India with an urgent prayer request.
A YWAM Centre in India is currently in the middle of a dispute between a family that they are working with and a local boarding school. They are asking for prayer for wisdom and God’s grace and favour in the situation. The desire is that a just resolution is found in the situation and that the right outcome would occur all the parties involved.
I realise that this is a bit vague, but it’s a fairly sensitive situation and they simply want God to move in it. The points for prayer are:
Wisdom and favour for the YWAM staff involved in the situation
Grace for the family involved
A just resolution for the situation
Thank you for your prayers and for trusting that God’s will be done…
I recently received this e-mail from YWAM Medellin about the recent flooding and how it’s affecting the nations. Looks like YWAM Medellin is responding to the crisis, and needs our help and prayers…
With this letter we want to share with our friends inside and out of the country, the emergency that the rainy season has caused in Colombia. There is massive flooding that has left thousands of people without food, housing and clothes. Hundreds have perished. Among the victims are 5 evangelical churches that were totally destroyed in the Ayapel & lower Cauca regions.
It is an alarming situation that many Colombian are living through and we want to make the Body of Christ aware of the need. We are receiving donations of non perishable food, portable stoves, clothing, blankets, tents, building materials, Bibles and cash donations to meet the need.
Please help us, help these brothers to find happiness this Christmas in the midst of difficult circumstances.
If you are interested in finding out more about their response to the crisis, including how you can help, you can contact Enith Diaz via e-mail at ywammed@gmail.com.
