Over on one of my other sites I have just launched a YWAM DTS Blog Carnival. I’m hoping to gather a list of stories from people’s Discipleship Training Schools together.
It’s my first ever Blog Carnival that I’m running, so it’s a bit exciting to see what happens. Could be a total bust if no one submits any stories, or it could be a fantastic source of stories from people who have done a YWAM DTS with Youth With A Mission.
If you want to participate in the YWAM DTS Blog Carnival, or want to see what stories get submited, then check out the post, YWAM DTS Blog Carnival – Bill Hutchison.
Looks like there is a large conference of Christian leaders about to take place in the first week of June in Hong Kong. The meetings are to discuss how to get “the whole church” involved in the Call2All movement to reach everyone with the Gospel of Christ.
There was a fantastic letter sent out to Christians from ministry, business and other workplaces to participate in the conference. The Call2All movement wants to see every follower of Christ engaged in reaching the lost. The letter was interesting in how it tackled “traditional methods” of evangelism, and how there is the call for new methods to be developed using what God has already blessed us all with.
Youth With A Mission (YWAM) is one of many Christian organisations that are a part of the Call2All. You can read more about the meetings in Hong Kong, and the letter that was sent out, here.
To help raise money for the YWAM ministry in Belfast, Ireland the national director, Jonny Clark, took up the challenge with four others to run a marathon. The marathon was used as a relay-fundraiser for their ministry there.
Here’s a video that put together about the fund-raising efforts, and why their doing it:
You can read about how they did in the Belfast Marathon here.
In Southern Sudan you will find a mountain top called the “Prayer Mountain”. It is owned by a former YWAMer, Tijwong, who had the vision to start a school there during the Sudanese war. The school, “Christ Ambassadors’ School”, took in children from all backgrounds to teach them biblical principles so that “their generation could be transformed”. There are now 243 studnts at the school being provided with a Christian Education.
In addition to the school there is also a radio station on the mountain top. The solar-powered radio station will reach people all over the area with the gospel and local news. Funds raised through advertising on the radio station will be used to supplement the finances for the school, which have been tight since the war in Sudan ended.
You can read more about the school and radio station, including their need for radio broadcasters and equipment, here.
The beginning of May saw many nations from around the world brought together for a time of simultaneous worship and prayer using video conferencing.
There were many nations involved and the time started with Markus Steffen, who pioneered GENESIS in YWAM, lead out in prayer from their location in Lausanne, Switzerland. The worship was then led from many other nations, and included Korean fan dancing, a Hawaiian hula dance, and praise in many different languages.
Dean Serman also shared during the time from Ensenada, Mexico about how “Every time we exalt Jesus like this is scatters the enemies of God.”. Darlene Cunningham also shared about the faith that is needed for the next season of ministry in YWAM.
